The (Blue)bird is a short digital video, originally part of a larger project that I started in the early 90s that was destroyed. It is a loose narrative about a bird who cannot fly and builds herself wings. In the process, she creates a tangled cage that traps herself instead. In the original version, her wings were to ultimately transform into a giant winged chariot that carries her away.
I hope to one day be able to finish it. If not, the excerpt that remains is really the most important part. I re-edited this segment in 2014 and presented it to an audience as part of a program celebrating Harper Lee, the author of To Kill a Mockingbird.
