“We Carry the Water Within Us” is a performance art piece in which I assemble and wear a large, sculptural harness that has multiple branching arms that extend outward from me and drag along the ground behind me as I walk along industrial and agricultural sites. The piece speaks to the relationship of our bodies to our built environment and the labor it takes to cultivate land, goods, and products for human use, particularly as it relates to the effect this has on the water and waterways of our cities.
